Standard Door Ding
The everyday parking-lot ding. The most common repair we do, usually finished in a single visit.
Paintless dent repair removes dents without paint, filler, or a body shop. Your factory finish is never touched, so nothing lands on the Carfax and your value stays intact. Door dings from $197, most repairs same day, by a technician reading metal since 1991.

Paintless dent repair (PDR) is a method that massages a dent back to its original shape from behind the panel, with no filler, no sanding, and no repainting.
Because the factory paint is never touched, there is no color match to get wrong, nothing reported to the Carfax, and no drop in resale value. A technician reaches the back of the metal and works it back to the exact plane it held before the impact. PDR is the right method any time the paint is unbroken and the metal is not torn, which covers the large majority of everyday dents in San Diego.
It is the same craft whether the car comes to our Escondido shop or we come to your driveway. What does not change is the standard.
Almost any driver with a dent and unbroken paint. Paintless dent repair is the best fit any time the factory finish is intact and the metal is not torn, which covers the large majority of everyday damage in San Diego.
Parking-lot dings, door dents, and runaway-cart dents, gone the same day.
Clear end-of-lease dent charges while keeping the factory finish.
Nothing on the Carfax, so resale and trade-in value stay protected.
Aluminum panels reset to factory, the metal most body shops avoid.
Where the original factory paint is a real part of the value.
Multi-panel hail worked out panel by panel, handled with your insurer.
A technician reads the dent with a reflection board, reaches the panel from behind, and massages the metal back to its original plane, then proves it under raking light. Most everyday dents take one to three hours.
A car door is not one panel. It is a thin outer skin over an inner frame, with a reinforced impact beam, a window track and regulator, wiring, and a speaker packed behind it. A door ding on the open skin is a clean paintless dent repair. The same dent sitting over the impact beam or behind the regulator has to be reached from the back, and that is what changes the work and the price.
It is why two door dings that look identical from the outside can be two different repairs. One is massaged out from behind in minutes with the factory finish untouched. The other needs the door panel, and sometimes the glass, removed and reinstalled first to reach the metal. Neither is a flat rate, because the honest number depends on what sits behind that exact spot.
So we read the panel before we quote. The price reflects the real door dent repair, not a number pulled to win the call. Either way it stays paintless, with no filler and no repaint, the factory paint kept, and nothing on the Carfax. See exactly what drives the price.
This is why we give a preliminary price range, never an exact quote sight unseen. An exact cost before anyone sees what is behind the damaged panel would be a guess, and a guess is where surprise charges come from. You get an honest range from your photos up front, then the firm number once the panel is seen in person. No bait, no upsell, just the real cost when it can actually be known.

The same door, inside and out. What you can't see is exactly what sets the price.
A striped board, held by hand. The reflection says where the metal went.
PDR fixes most dents where the paint is intact, from door dings and creases to hail and large body-line dents on steel and aluminum.
Where the paint is cracked or the metal is torn, a panel needs filler and repaint, which is a body-shop job, not PDR. We tell you which path gives the best result before you decide. That honesty is the standard, not a limitation.
A reflection board throws straight lines across the panel, and a dent bends them. Drag the slider, the same board, the same panel, before and after the repair.

Straight reflection lines mean the metal is back to its original plane. No filler, no repaint, no trace.
The most common question San Diego drivers ask after a bad experience is: how was I supposed to know? The answer is always visible, if you know what to look for. Poor PDR leaves metal that was pushed with the wrong tools, clearcoat stressed or cracked from sharp contact, and in some cases holes drilled where none belonged. None of that can be undone by another technician. Every car in this section was dent-repairable before the first shop touched it. This is what to look for before you hand your car to anyone.
Multiple holes drilled through the panel where none were needed, then left open, unsealed, unprotected. Every one of those openings is now a rust point working inward. The structure is compromised.
Done by a technician who called himself experienced. A sharp tool pushed with too much force created high spots across the hood and stressed the paint at every contact point. Once the paint is broken from underneath, PDR is no longer an option. The panel needs a full respray.
Aggressive pushing with the wrong tools poked the metal up from underneath across the panel. Each raised point broke the paint surface from below. There is no pushing these back down. The factory finish is gone.
A mobile company in a Walmart parking lot told the owner it would wash away by tomorrow. It didn't. What they applied bonded to the paint and lifted it, leaving the panel in worse shape than the original dent. This car now needs new panels and collision work that could have been avoided entirely.
Every panel above was dent-repairable before the first technician touched it. The damage in these photos was not caused by the original impact, it was caused by the repair. That distinction matters, because it changes what you are actually deciding. The dent is not the risk. The technician is.
Myke Toledo · Dent Time
When you buy a gallon of milk, every gallon at every store is the same product. Choosing the one that costs less makes sense. PDR is not that. Two technicians looking at the same dent will make completely different decisions about access, pressure, and where to stop. One of those decisions preserves your factory finish. The other one does not.
Thirty-five years in this trade is not a marketing number. It is the count of dents, panels, and metal types that live in a technician's hands as muscle memory. You cannot buy that experience at a lower price point. You can only find it or not find it.
The tool does not read the metal. The technician does.
Paintless dent repair in San Diego runs $197 to $4,000 depending on damage, and hail is priced by the storm at $1,500 to $8,000 or more. Price follows difficulty, not size. Depth, sharpness, panel location, access behind the metal, and whether the panel is steel or aluminum all move the number.
The everyday parking-lot ding. The most common repair we do, usually finished in a single visit.
Deeper than a ding, still shallow enough for clean PDR. Common on quarter panels, doors, and hood edges.
Sharper than a dent, follows a line or edge. Price tracks depth and how tight the crease sits against a body line.
Big impacts, hidden crowns, trapped pressure. Some route to the shop for controlled conditions, and we say so before booking.
Priced by the storm, not the panel. Insurance-eligible when the deductible math works, out of pocket when it does not.
Every price here is what we actually charge. Text two photos to 858-408-6200 and a real technician replies with your exact number in minutes, free. You approve before any tool touches the car.
Set the size, where it sits, and the metal. The estimated range and the reason update live, the same way a real quote does.
A small dent on a flat panel, in standard steel. Flat panel, standard steel, clean access. This is base price.
A range, not a final price. Text two photos and you get the real number, usually within minutes.
Not a form estimate. A real price from a real technician with 35 years on the tools. Factory finish kept, nothing on the Carfax, no diminished value. Free, no pressure, approve before we book.
In San Diego, standard door dings run $197 to $250, medium dents $275 to $500, creases $225 to $400, and large dents $500 to $4,000. Hail is priced by the storm, usually $1,500 to $8,000 or more.
Price depends on the depth, the location, the access behind the panel, and the panel material. The quote is not final until we see what is behind the panel. Text a photo and a real number comes back in minutes, and you approve it before any tool touches the car.
A clean parking-lot ding massaged out, factory paint untouched.
A deeper dent worked back to an even, flawless surface.
A body-line crease takes precision access. Harder to do right, and we do it right.
Large dents run $500 to $4,000. Hail is priced by panel count and severity.
Depth, location, access behind the panel, and material. Aluminum carries a higher rate because it has no memory and takes more force to set. High-strength steel adds a smaller amount. Most repairs also come in two finish levels, so the fix fits the vehicle and the budget without changing the standard.
Complete satisfaction or no charge applied. Factory finish kept. Nothing on the Carfax. See exactly what drives PDR pricing.
For dents where the paint is intact, paintless dent repair is the better choice: it keeps your factory finish, leaves nothing on the Carfax, and is usually done the same day instead of over days or weeks.
The original paint is never touched, so the panel stays exactly as the manufacturer built it.
The right call only when paint is cracked or metal is torn, because those need refinishing.

PDR in EscondidoYes. Aluminum and high-strength steel are routine for us on Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Porsche.
Aluminum has no memory. Steel wants to spring back toward its shape and a technician uses that. Aluminum gives nothing back, so it takes far more force and accuracy to move and set the metal. That is why aluminum carries a higher rate. The result is the same factory finish, with nothing on the Carfax.
Factory paint never touched, nothing reported.

It depends on the size. For severe hail or high-ticket multi-panel damage of roughly $1,500 to $8,000 or more, a claim usually makes sense and we handle it with the insurer.
For repairs around $1,500 or less, paying out of pocket avoids a premium increase, a Carfax entry, and the insurer deciding to replace or repaint instead of saving the panel. Insurance is not always on your side here. Filing can raise your rate, land on the Carfax, and take days to approve plus weeks to get the car back. You can use insurance with PDR, the question is whether it is worth it, and we will tell you straight.
The searches that follow "paintless dent repair." Each one answered the way we answer your photos: straight.
The line tells the truth. Every repair here is read under the same reflection you see moving across this panel.
Yes, PDR is the industry-standard repair for hail, restoring dozens of dents per panel with the factory paint intact. Hail runs $1,500 to $8,000 and up depending on storm severity and panel count, and it is the one repair where an insurance claim usually makes sense. Before you call your insurer, read our PDR insurance claims guide. Photos first, honest direction in minutes.
The metal, yes. The paint, no. PDR restores the panel shape, but cracked paint stays cracked, so the plan changes when the finish is broken. Send photos and you get the honest call: PDR alone, PDR plus paint touch-up, or a refinish path instead.
Different craft, same house. Bumper covers are plastic, so they get controlled heat and pressure instead of PDR tools. A pushed-in bumper with intact paint runs $250 to $300 on the mobile bumper repair side. One set of photos covers both, we route it to the right craft.
With intact paint there is no ticking clock, steel does not corrode through an unbroken finish. The honest reasons to move sooner: appraisals and lease returns flag every panel, and the repair takes hours, not days. Nothing about a dent gets cheaper by waiting, it just stays on the car longer.
Most shops hand you one number and one standard. Take it or leave it. That is easier for the shop and it quietly decides something that was yours to decide. We quote Premium, Practical, and Improvement on the same damage, show you what each one actually looks like, and let you pick. The price changes with the option. The person doing the work does not.
This is not a good, better, best ladder with a discount at the bottom. They are three honest answers to one real question: how far do you want to take this? A ten-year-old daily driver and a leased car turning in next month deserve different answers, and pretending otherwise is how people end up paying for something they did not need or accepting something they did not want.
Premium The repair taken as far as the metal allows. Every high spot tapped flat, the body line straightened, the panel read under a board until the reflection runs clean and unbroken from every angle. This is the standard you want on a car you are keeping, selling, or turning in on a lease.
Best for: Newer vehicles, leases, anything where resale is the point.
Practical The dent comes out and the panel reads right in normal light. We stop short of chasing the very last trace that only shows under a reflection board at the right angle. Most people looking at your car will never find it, and you keep the money that last percent would have cost.
Best for: Daily drivers, work vehicles, and anyone who wants it gone without paying for perfect.
Improvement For damage where a full correction is not realistic, or not worth it on that vehicle. The panel gets substantially better and we tell you exactly what will still be visible before we start. Nobody promises you perfect and then hands you something else.
Best for: Older vehicles, stretched metal, and damage where the honest answer is "much better, not invisible."
Two minutes with Myke on what actually separates the options, what you get for the difference, and when the cheaper answer is genuinely the right one. The same conversation you would get standing next to your car.
Not sure which one your panel needs? Send two photos and we quote all three.
Here is what actually decides how your panel turns out. Not which option you picked. Not the price. Whoever is holding the tool.
Paintless dent repair has no licensing body. Anyone can buy a set of rods and call themselves a technician, and the work looks finished to an untrained eye on the day. It shows up later, under garage lighting or against a painted parking line, long after the person who did it stopped answering.
So the question worth asking is not really which repair you are buying. It is who is performing it. A Practical repair from someone who has read metal for thirty-five years beats a Premium price from someone learning on your car, every time.
See what the difference actually looks like in real bad repairs, or send two photos and we will quote all three options on your panel.
