How Much Does Tesla and EV Dent Repair Cost?

EV dent repair runs $250 to $4,000 depending on damage. Most EVs, including every Tesla and Rivian, use aluminum panels, which carry a higher rate than steel. Aluminum has no memory, takes three to five times more force, and demands sharper tools with more accuracy at once.

Your Dent, Solved

Can You Fix a Dent on an Electric Car?

Yes. Dents and door dings on electric cars are everyday work for us, and paintless dent repair fixes them with no repaint and nothing on the Carfax, on any EV from Tesla to Rivian to Lucid.

A parking-lot door ding, a crease down a door, a dent in a quarter panel. The fix is the same idea on an EV as any car. We work the metal back to its original shape from behind the panel, so your factory finish is never touched. What is different about an EV is the panel itself. Most are aluminum, which most shops avoid, and that is exactly where we are strongest. More on aluminum dent repair.

Why PDR Skill Matters More Than Price

The Dent Was Fixable. The Repair Wasn't.

The most common question San Diego drivers ask after a bad experience is: how was I supposed to know? The answer is always visible, if you know what to look for. Poor PDR leaves metal that was pushed with the wrong tools, clearcoat stressed or cracked from sharp contact, and in some cases holes drilled where none belonged. None of that can be undone by another technician. Every car in this section was dent-repairable before the first shop touched it. This is what to look for before you hand your car to anyone.

Multiple unnecessary holes drilled through a car panel by an inexperienced PDR technician, leaving open rust points

Unnecessary Holes Drilled

Multiple holes drilled through the panel where none were needed, then left open, unsealed, unprotected. Every one of those openings is now a rust point working inward. The structure is compromised.

BMW hood with clearcoat stressed and high spots from sharp PDR tool pushed with too much force

Sharp Tool Damage on a BMW Hood

Done by a technician who called himself experienced. A sharp tool pushed with too much force created high spots across the hood and stressed the paint at every contact point. Once the paint is broken from underneath, PDR is no longer an option. The panel needs a full respray.

Car door with paint broken from underneath and flaking away after aggressive pushing with non-professional PDR tools

Non-Professional Tools, Paint Broken From Underneath

Aggressive pushing with the wrong tools poked the metal up from underneath across the panel. Each raised point broke the paint surface from below. There is no pushing these back down. The factory finish is gone.

Parking Lot "Fix" Now Needs a Body Shop

A mobile company in a Walmart parking lot told the owner it would wash away by tomorrow. It didn't. What they applied bonded to the paint and lifted it, leaving the panel in worse shape than the original dent. This car now needs new panels and collision work that could have been avoided entirely.

Every panel above was dent-repairable before the first technician touched it. The damage in these photos was not caused by the original impact, it was caused by the repair. That distinction matters, because it changes what you are actually deciding. The dent is not the risk. The technician is.

Why the Technician Is Everything

Choosing PDR Is Not Like Choosing a Gallon of Milk.

When you buy a gallon of milk, every gallon at every store is the same product. Choosing the one that costs less makes sense. PDR is not that. Two technicians looking at the same dent will make completely different decisions about access, pressure, and where to stop. One of those decisions preserves your factory finish. The other one does not.

Thirty-five years in this trade is not a marketing number. It is the count of dents, panels, and metal types that live in a technician's hands as muscle memory. You cannot buy that experience at a lower price point. You can only find it or not find it.

The tool does not read the metal. The technician does.

Built for Electric Vehicles

Is PDR Safe for My EV?

Yes. Paintless dent repair is the safest dent repair for an electric vehicle because it adds no chemicals, no repaint, and no heat to the battery area, and it keeps the work off the Carfax to protect resale, with none of the diminished value a repaint leaves behind.

We work the panel mechanically from behind, aware of what sits behind it, and we default to removal and installation through factory openings instead of drilling. The repair touches metal only, never the electronics or structure, so your factory and battery warranties stay intact. We can even come to you.

Aluminum Body? Even Better.

The Metal That Stops Most Shops.

Most EVs are built from aluminum, and aluminum has no memory, so it gives nothing back and takes far more force and accuracy to reset than steel. That is where most shops turn the car away and where we are at our best.

If your electric car has an aluminum body, that is not a problem for us, it is our specialty. See how we handle aluminum dent repair on any vehicle.

Real Numbers

How Much Is EV Dent Repair?

EV dent repair in San Diego starts at $197 for a standard door ding, with medium dents $275 to $500 and creases $225 to $600 or more. Aluminum-bodied EVs carry a higher rate because aluminum takes more force and precision to reset.

Price depends on depth, location, access behind the panel, and material. Text a photo and a real number comes back in minutes, and you approve it before any work. See exactly what drives the price.

What Aluminum Actually Takes

Why Aluminum Is the Hardest Metal in This Trade.

Aluminum is far more challenging than steel and it is not flexible. It does not have the same memory steel does, so it never wants to return to shape on its own. The repair uses heat and sharper tools to manipulate the flow of the aluminum back into place, and that takes more time and far more precision.

None of this is an electric car story. Ford has built the F-150 body in aluminum since 2015, and Toyota, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz use aluminum on hoods, doors, and tailgates across their ranges. If you drive something built in the last decade, there is a good chance at least one panel on it is aluminum.

01

Heat, Because It Will Not Spring Back

Steel has memory. Bend it and it wants to return to the shape it was built in, and a technician uses that. Aluminum has none of it. Heat is what makes the metal willing to move at all, and knowing how much and where is the difference between a repair and a ruined panel.

02

Sharper Tools, More Force, More Accuracy

Aluminum takes three to five times the force of steel, sometimes more, through a sharper tool tip. That combination is unforgiving. Too much in the wrong place does not leave a smaller dent, it leaves damage you cannot take back.

03

Manipulate the Flow, Do Not Push the Dent

This is the part that separates people who have worked aluminum from people who have read about it. You are not pushing a dent out. You are moving the flow of the metal back to where it belongs, gradually, reading it the whole way.

04

Time and Precision, or Pock Marks

Rushed aluminum leaves pock marks and mars in the paint. Small, permanent, and visible under the right light forever. That is what the extra time buys, and it is why an aluminum panel is not a job to hand to someone learning.

The Thing Worth Worrying About

Most People Worry About the Repair. Worry About the Technician.

Almost every question we get about aluminum is some version of "is this repairable?" That is the wrong thing to be nervous about. On an intact-paint panel the answer is nearly always yes.

The real variable is who is doing it. Aluminum punishes inexperience in a way steel never does. Steel forgives a wrong move because it wants to go back. Aluminum records it. The same dent, on the same panel, on the same day, comes out invisible in one set of hands and pock-marked in another.

So the question worth asking a shop is not whether they can fix aluminum. Everyone says yes. Ask how long they have been doing it, and ask to see one they finished.

See what the wrong hands leave behind in real bad repairs, or send two photos and get an honest read on your panel.

EV Dent Repair, Answered

The Questions People Actually Ask.

Can you fix a dent on an electric car?
Yes. Dents and door dings on electric cars are everyday work for us. Paintless dent repair pushes the metal back to its original shape from behind the panel with no filler and no repaint, so your EV keeps its factory finish and nothing lands on the Carfax. It works on Tesla, Rivian, Lucid, and every other EV on the road.
Can you do paintless dent repair on a Tesla?
Yes. Tesla dent repair is one of the most common jobs we do. Whether it is a door ding on a Model 3, a crease on a Model Y, or a dent on a Model S, X, or Cybertruck, we reset the panel to factory and keep the original paint. Tesla panels are aluminum, which most shops avoid, and that is exactly what we specialize in.
Do you remove door dings on EVs?
Yes. Door dings are the most common EV repair we see, usually from a parking lot or a neighboring car door. Most are finished the same day, often in about an hour, with no repaint and no trace left behind.
Does dent repair affect my EV battery or warranty?
No. Paintless dent repair touches only the body panel, never the battery, electronics, or structure, and it adds no heat near the pack and no chemicals. Because it is not a paint or structural repair, it does not affect your factory or battery warranty, and it keeps the work off the Carfax to protect resale.
